Typical Duties:
▪ Attend township meetings a least monthly
▪ Serve on township committees
▪ Enact local laws (ordinances)
▪ Adopt annual budget
▪ Levy taxes
▪ Make appointments to boards and commissions
Length of Term:
▪ 6 Years
▪ Supervisors elected on staggering terms (at least one supervisor elected every two years)
▪ Short term: If a seat becomes vacant during the term, the supervisors appoint a citizen to fill the unexpired term. If there are at least two years remaining in the unexpired term, the seat is put on the ballot at the next municipal election the remainder of the term.
How Elected:
▪ At large: by all the registered voters in the borough

▪ Elected from all supervisors, by the supervisors

▪ Secretary and treasurer are appointed positions and may be held by supervisors or township employees
